Harry S. Truman was here! I've had chili many ways, but never like this. It's like build your own chili. Like crackers? Add them in. Like cheese? Onions? Pile it on.

If you like boiled hamburger with little flavor made into every item on the menu, you will love this place.$9 for all you can eat tacos is fine if you like very plain tacos and are willing to eat at least 9.Chili is weird, must be an acquired taste. Tamales and tacos are not of Latin origin. Chili dog is 90% chili.Service and atmosphere is good.

Small little dinner serving quick chili dishes. We stopped here just to say we tried KC chili. The place was very busy and the staff was attentive. We managed not get in and out within 15 minutes. The chili dish was good and moderately priced.

Today was my first visit to Dixons Chili on 40 hwy in Independence, MO and it was Great. The All You Can Eat Tacos was amazing and the food was fats coming out. I loved the staff and the place was awesome.

Their chili is a little bit sweeter than most, but it was still very good. The prices are right and the portions huge! The tacos are great too! The parking situation can be sketchy, but it isn't a huge ordeal. It's just got a good down home feel to it and it is definitely worth the trip!

Excellent chili, though its different from how you imagine regular chili. Served on a plate, not in a bowl. My favorite are the tacos, and they offer endless tacos every day for about $8. Currently my record is 14😁

Love this place! The tacos are my fovorite here. Nothing fancy, just basic cheap tacos that taste great and are loaded with cheese.

I have been going to Dixon’s with my family ever since I can remember. While both of my parents and rest of my relatives that we always tend to meet up with at Dixon’s, we’re born in Kansas City, I was born in Texas. This is the best chili I have ever had in my life. Simple, but every time we fly or drive down to Kansas’s City, i get more excited about Dixon’s than anything else. Great atmosphere, impeccable service, incredible food. I highly recommend for any family in town!!! Enjoy!

Good service. Good chili

First and last time here. Sat at counter, not a nice atmosphere, not to mention lady who works there running around with no mask on right next to us. Chili was taco meat with beans underneath, certainly not what anyone I know calls chili. Found out later we were supposed to get seasoning with it but didn't. I got tacos, they were just ok. Two buckets on floor collecting rain water. Ticket was rang up wrong and we had to wait a very long time to pay. Our server was good other than charging us an extra $10 that she fixed. Never offered to refill pop that was $3.00.

Not what you would traditionally expect from chili. The flavor is a bit bland for me, but the texture is great, with finely ground pieces of meat. Recommend adding the jalapenos, sour cream, onions, and cheese to enhance the flavor.

I just LOVE Dixon's tacos !! Simple & delicious !! Thin & crispy taco shells, stuffed full of (non-greasy) taco meat, topped with ample amounts of shredded lettuce & shredded cheese. You can get these scrumptious beauties, standing proudly, 4 at a time, in a waxpaper lined basket, with a spoon to gather every drop. They serve their smooth, tasty, (not spicy just flavorful) taco sauce, you spoon over the top to your individual liking. They offer other sauces as well. ....And wait there's more !!... Get them "All-YOU-CAN-EAT" for just $9.99 !!! Many other things to choose from on the menu, served the way YOU like it...chili, enchiladas, etc. Oh, did i mention they have a large selection of pies to choose from ??!! Yes, i did !! WITH my meal ! I chose Lemon Meringue with the most perfectly browned meringue peaks. EVERY BITE...DELICIOUS !!

The food is good, but I've seen their management act poorly toward customers when the customer was clearly in the right. They refused to correct the issues for the customer.

I love this place. The food is amazing and the service is even better. Their kind hearted and treat you like family. I definitely recommend this place as a "must go".

Took the 2 kids here for lunch. 2 orders of Chili (1/2 juicy and 1/2 saucy at the recommendation of the server) and a Chili dog. Not sure what I was expecting, but this fell below my expectations. Imho, the chili was just a plate of very lightly seasoned ground beef over beans. In order for it to have some flavor I had to add cheese, sour cream, onions, and some type of spicy vinigar sauce they gave us. Also added chili seasoning, again provided. Yep that is correct, they give you dry chili seasoning to add to your chili. It was make your own chili chili, and maybe that's the point, but I prefer food that is good from the kitchen, which this was not, very bland. My younger son enjoyed his chili dog, which came with a much more flavorful tomato based chili. On the plus side, the service was fast and attentive. I think this is a place that you had to grow up with to enjoy, like in-a-tub or similar. Won't return, not my cup of tea.

Dixon family chili has been around for over a hundred years I like the fact that you can get all you can eat tacos everyday and I got pretty good chili I like mine juicy and then they have soupy, and justmeat and dry

I love eating at Dixon's Chili!!!! I grew up eating there with my grandparents and now I'm eating there with my kids. LOVE IT!!!!!!

Everytime i go in to this one of a kind the food and service is always wonderful my family does not like it because we come here so much. Thanks for the amazing tacos.

Not good if you get take out! Inside sit down is completely different. I guess you need them fresh.

This place has been a favorite of mine since childhood. It's stays true to its menu and service is always great. The owner is wicked nice guy and you can tell he's 100 invested in making sure customers are satisfied with their visit.

All the tacos you can eat (and yeah, they have big squeezie bottles FULL of taco sauce) Chili with or without beans; dry chili, soupy chili, chili with a little grease, and yeah, you have to buy onions, ketchup, pickles, etc but so what? You can also get wonderful tamales, chili dogs, chili cheese burgers, or just dogs and burgers without the chili. Something for everyone. It's cheap and good quality eats, man! If you're a tourist and complain about Dixon's just go home and leave it for the locals. We love it, and they will certainly survive on Chiefs and Royals games alone! There's a reason they've been in business a hundred years. You folks at Dixons just keep doing what you do.

Great food. Great service. I recommend this place if you love chili on everything. Also they have all you can eat tacos every day for like 8 bucks. I’ve eaten 18 in one sitting! You get your monies worth!

100 years of service and still packed, can't argue with that. I had the all you can eat tacos, 8, I was stuffed, the shells were light, crispy, and fresh. Lots of cheese and the meat was tasty. Service was great, friendly. Pink lemonade, great. They were packed and still there was no waiting on food. It was out to you fresh and fast. Worth the money, but just a couple dollars more than me eating there every day. Only thing I would add is a choice for a hot taco sauce.

Dixon's chili is a 100 year old chili parlor for a reason. This chili is unique in that it is not tomato based. You can have it with beans or without, juice (the meat liquor) or no juice, onions, cheese and mustard. Ketchup is regarded as sacrilegious and you must pay $0.15! The chili dogs are to die for and should be topped off with homemade pie!

This is one of those under rated places, kinda shove in a strip mall in Independence, easy to overlook, I've driven by it many times and never noticed it. They have a good menu and a whole lot of Chilli. I had the endless tacos because I like regretting my decision a day later. They were so good, I ate 12 of them in one setting. Today I went with a party of five and I tried portions from them and everything at the table loved what they chose. Fun fact 2019 makes 100 years Dixon Chilli Parlor had been in business. Harry Truman actually ate there as well.

I’ve always had good service here. The chili is made so you can customize and spice it anyway you like. Today, I tried a double chili burger for the first time. I think I found my favorite menu item in the burger. The beef was fresh and the portion was large. They were even willing to use cheddar cheese as I prefer it over American cheese. I will be back soon for another burger.

We had the make your own taco bar and it was great. Plenty of food and a great deal. Hope they keep this on the menu.

Excellent food, excellent service. Incredible chili. Ala carte style old fashioned chili. One can see why this place has been a KC favorite for 100 years. The only reason I didn't give it a 5-rating was because the floors and tables looked neglected in the early afternoon when my friend and I visited. It wasn't dirty, just a little sloppy. Hopefully this review will lead to more timely maintenance.

I finally ate the spaghetti chili I wanted to try for years, plus it was the special on Wednesday. A very generous portion and filling. Don't forget the hot sauce, along with all the fixin's. It was great eating at a KC historical place! 😉👍
